Meet Emma: our member of the month!

What’s your name?
Emma Lucas
Where do you live and what do you “do"
I live in Hull in Yorkshire (whoop!) and I’m the lead process and data geek for a huge
international supply chain.
Best book you’ve read… don’t overthink it
I’ll have to go with a recent one - Silence is a Sense by Layla AlAmmar. It’s simply stunning.
What’s a book you pretend to have read but have never finished?
Well I’m a stubborn kind of gal that will generally stick with a book even though I hate
it…however I think I only got a few pages into Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings before I got
bored and gave up!
What’s better – the book or the movie?
The book, always!!… even when it’s not.
Where do you read most often?
Curled up in a blanket on the sofa, tea in hand.
What do you struggle the most with when you’re reading?
Long Chapters, I like short and snappy or else I lose my attention span!
Most used emoji?
👾
Favourite thing to do (when you’re not reading of course)
Blogging! About reading books…
What would your friends say about you?
Don’t go shopping with her, she’ll convince you to spend all of your money!
Describe yourself in three words
Sunny, stubborn and lots of fun!
What’s something everyone should try at least once in their life?
Bikram Yoga. It’s the strangest feeling ever. It’s 90 minutes of feeling like you want to leave
and might pass out because its hard as heck and soooo hot and humid and then feeling
totally elated and free and wonderful and ready to do it all again. Madness but so good!
What’s on your nightstand?
I keep my books downstairs - so my lumie alarm clock and a lovely lamp.
Why did you join Rare Birds?
My wonderful friend Aimee bought me a subscription for my big birthday during lockdown
last year. Best gift ever, I’ve re-subscribed twice since – love it.
Would you like to write a book? What would it be about?
I did write a book once when I was 7. I then turned it into a play and held auditions at the
playground bench for those that wanted to star in it. These days no, I don’t have the time!
What would be the title of your biography?
‘Books, Brunch and Brews.’
Invent the title of a self help book you’d most benefit from reading
‘Motivation 101: actually doing the housework.’
